| Toor dal Chutney / Kandhi Pachadi |
Toor dal chutney is prepared in many
telugu families as a side dish to relish with steamed rice and a dollop of
ghee. Quick and easy to make. if you are bored with the usual chutneys, then do try this. I made
this to have with Andhra Special Crispy Punugulu / Punukulu.
Ingredients
¼
cup toor dal
½
tsp cumin
3
red chilies (Kashmiri)
2
small garlic cloves
2
tbspns. Thick Tamarind extract (adjust as per your taste) (soak tamarind in hot water ,once
coolsqueeze the pulp and filter to remove impurities)
salt
to taste
seasoning
1
sprig curry leaves
1
garlic clove
2
green chilies
¼
tsp cumin
¼
tsp mustard
1
tbsp Oil
Method.
1.
Wash toor dal and fry it in 1 tsp of oil till you get a nice aroma.
2.
Fry red chilies on a low flame till they turn crispy, add cumin to the same
pan.

3.
Grind all the ingredients with little water to a smooth paste
4.
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan, fry green chilies. Add cumin and mustard and once
they crackel add curry leaves and
garlic, fry for 30 secs. Transfer this
to the chutney and mix well.
