Tawa pizza recipe without yeast video – Making a pizza without oven, on a tawa or pan is quick and simple. Though it can be made with yeast dough, tawa pizza turns out best when made with dough that has no yeast in it. The flavor of yeast dough baked in a oven is good rather than the one cooked on stove top preparations.

This no yeast tawa pizza recipe may be useful to those who do not have a oven or do not prefer to eat foods made with yeast either because they are sensitive to yeast or allergic or want to just avoid yeast to prevent health conditions.
Usually I make pizzas using this pizza recipe and this whole wheat vegetable pizza.
I get lot of requests from readers to share healthy recipes that I try for my kids. Though sharing every recipe I make for them is not possible, thought of sharing a few that I am sure will be loved by your kids’ too. This tawa pizza recipe is healthy if made using whole grain flour (atta) and cheese without any additives.

How to make pizza without oven
For this recipe I have made the pizza dough using yogurt and soda. No yeast pizza dough can also be made using egg and no yogurt or soda is used in such recipe. I will share it sometime soon. This recipe yields a pizza with good crust and soft inside without being hard.
Using this recipe you will be able to make 3 thin crust personal pan pizzas of 6 inches. You can also make one thick pizza of 9 inches or 2 – 9 inch thin crust pizzas. You can also make chicken pizza or egg on pizza recipes using this dough.
In this post, I am sharing
1. How to make no yeast pizza dough
2. Making tomato pizza sauce
3. How to make pizza on tawa
If you have a pizza sauce handy then just skip making that here. But be sure to use a good sauce since it is the main contributor to the taste of pizza. You can watch the video for clear instructions.
Preparation for tawa pizza without yeast
1. Add wheat flour (atta), salt, soda and sugar to a mixing bowl.

2. Mix all or sieve all these well.

3. Add curd.

4. Pour water and then olive oil.

5. Mix and make a soft non sticky dough. Knead it well for about 5 to 6 minutes until the dough turns very soft. Add few drops of oil and smear well. Cover with a moist cloth and set aside for 1 hour.

Making sauce for tawa pizza without yeast
6. Meanwhile make pizza sauce. You can skip making this and use ready pizza sauce. Heat oil in a pan and saute garlic. Add chilli flakes. If you do not have the flakes, pulse a few red chilies in the blender.

7. Add onions.

8. Saute until they turn golden.

9. Add tomatoes, salt and sugar. You can also use tomato puree.

10. Cook covered until mushy.

11. Mash the sauce to make it uniform if using tomatoes. Add italian herbs or oregano and crushed pepper.

12. When the sauce turns thick add veggies and saute on a high flame just for 1 to 2 mins. Make sure the sauce doesn’t dry up. If you skip this step, you will have raw veggies on your pizza. This also gives nice aroma to the sauce and toppings. Set this aside to cool.

How to make pizza without oven
13. Divide the dough to 2 to 3 parts. Lightly flour the rolling area and flatten a ball. Roll to a chapati that is slightly thicker.

14. Heat the tawa. When it turns very hot, transfer the roti. Keep the flame on medium heat. Press down with a spatula and cook until the base puffs up lightly and cooks completely with brown spots.

15. You can see the roti has puffed and cooked completely.

16. Flip it and smear some oil.

17. Add sauce as desired and spread it.

18. Sprinkle cheese, olives, herbs and red chili flakes.

19. Cover and cook until the cheese melts.

20. Cheese begins to melt. Transfer to a serving plate.

Cut tawa pizza and serve.

Dear Swasthiji,
Can we use some other oil instead of olive.
Hi Vaibahvi
Yes you can use any oil.
Omg! Tried this recipe for my 19 month old son who was refusing to eat properly since a couple of days! He ate heartily and we adults loved it too.
I didn’t have the time to keep the dough aside for an hour but still turned pretty good! Also I added beetroots and carrots in grated form among other toppings. It was a healthy hearty and nutritious meal! Thanks a ton ❤️

Hi, I have not breaking powder. Is possible use ENO?
Hi Rajat
Yes it should work.
Made tawa pizza whole wheat for dinner, tasted awesome with some toppings modifications.
Thanks Shobha
Glad it turned out awesome
Can we not skip using baking powder and soda? Will it be ol if we increase the amount of curd?
Instead make a layered paratha and top it. I don’t know if only curd will work. I think the base will be dense and not cook without baking soda.
Oh. That was very prompt. Thank you. I vl sure gv it a try. Your recipes with both video and photos are really a great idea.
Hi.. can we make the pizza base before n store… like the store bought ones n then heat with toppings n cheese when needed..
If so for how long can we store the base.
Hi,
I haven’t tried
Hey hi..
Was craving for pizza in this lockdown so true ur receipe today..though it turned out really well and my whole family loved it ..but it had a lil aftertaste of baking powder (I put half tsp baking powder instead of soda)which I didn’t like..is it with me only or the recipe has a after taste ?
Hello Prachi,
I haven’t felt it with baking soda. But actually it shouldn’t leave an aftertaste even if you use 3/4 tsp. 3/4 to 1 tsp is the quantity used in self raising flour. But I know some people are more sensitive to baking powder and soda even when used in right quantities & they feel either the bitter taste or aftertaste. I have a family member with the same problem. You may try Bob’s red mill brand. This has worked well for us.
Turned out really well. Thanks Swasthi ?
You are welcome Aditi
Hello, such a great recipe. I’m.planning to try it out. Was wondering if the base would become really hard if we leave the pizza on tawa waiting for cheese to melt. Pls suggest.
Hi Nupur,
Thank you! It will become hard if you make it thin. Take a look at my step by step pictures showing the thickness. It puffs so won’t become hard.
Hi ,
After Preparing base and toppings added.
Can i cook it in oven instead of tawa?

Hi swasthi
Your receipies are very good and useful I want to make this tawa pizza can i use baking powder instead of baking soda please reply soon
Bye
Hi Fazila,
Thank you. Yes you can use half tsp baking powder
Hi,
Just tried your recipe today with some minor modifications and turned out really well. Used both flours in the ratios mentioned in the recipe and added 1 tsp baking powder to reduce the waiting period as I had noticed you mentioned this to one other commentor. And melted the cheese and veggies in the microwave and poured over the base once it was completely done. Was using an iron skillet so feared that the base would get burnt. Loved the way it turned out. Thank you so so much. Will definitely be making again 🙂
Hi Elwin
You are welcome. Thanks for the comment. Happy to know the recipe was useful.
🙂
Hi Swasthi,
I want to try this recipe but have only Baking Powder available.
Will that work in place of Baking Soda?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Aishwarya
You can try with 1 tsp baking powder. You can skip the yogurt. Do not rest the dough. Once you are done kneading just begin to make thepizza
