Almond carrot smoothie recipe – I love to include almonds in our diet in many ways. They are so versatile, protein packed and are an amazing super food. Iam specially prefer using them soaked as they are more easy to digest and absorb better.

Almonds can be used to make Indian ayurvedic almond milk, raw almond milk, badam kheer, quick badam burfi or can just use them in curries to get a nutty taste or a smooth texture.
While a child i never got to enjoy ice creams, carbonated beverages or any store bought drinks during summer. My mum most times would make dry dates juice, barley water, slightly chilled almond milk, sabja seeds drink, or smoothies which tend to beat the summer heat naturally.
I have fond memories of this slightly chilled almond carrot smoothie which would accompany my mid morning snack during the summer holidays. Since soaked almonds are said to be cooling to the body, they naturally help to beat the summer heat,
To prevent using sugar in this smoothie, we add a few sweet tasting grapes. if you dont mind you can just replace it with sugar. Red grapes have been added to the smoothie you see in the picture above. The color of your smoothie could be different if you use a different variety if grapes.
You can use milk to this smoothie if you are not using grapes.

This is really yummy with the dates. very simple and tasty.
Glad you like it. Thank you!
We loved this combination as a breakfast drink. I would never have thought of it myself but it’s so good. I guess we could even use dry grapes (although dates also go well with carrot) if we don’t have any fresh ones 🙂
Hi Zanna,
Glad you loved it! Thank you!
🙂
Hiii Swasthi,
Ur recipes are very nice n very useful to me… Thanks a lot… I have an one year old baby girl who is just 7 kgs… She is not gaining weight… I am very much worried…
I saw your recipes n trying… Can I use Nan formula milk in this recipe?
It is good not to use formula with any other food except rice or whole grain cereals. Usually formula milk provides balanced nutrition and adding it to other foods may become heavy for the baby/ toddler to digest. It may lead to indigestion problems.
Regarding the weight gain – have you been following my baby food chart for above 8 months babies?
Thank you so much Swasthi, I am following your recipes… But I don’t know why she is not gaining weight.. I will share you the daily routine… It goes like..
8-8.30 am formula milk – 60 ml,
9.30-10.30 breakfast (idli with rasam or ragi malt or oats porridge),
11.30 dry dates juice,
12.30-1 lunch(dal kichidi or mashed rice with rasam),
2-2.30 yogurt with rice or yogurt with banana,
4.30-5 breastfeed,
6.30 fruit or carrot almond smoothie,
8.30 mashed rice with any veggie,
10 formula milk or cerelac….
During night, she will have breastfeed for 2 times…
Is it OK Swasthi or do I need to change anything?
Actually she did not increase her eating quantity yet… She is in the same quantity from almost 4 months… Will it also affects? Because she is not eating if I am forcing her also…
Please help me.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Sravya
The entire schedule seems to be fine, except yogurt with banana. No fruits with milk or yogurt. Give a fruit first wait for 1 hour or 1 hour 30 mins then yogurt. After 1 hour meal.
Wrong combinations of foods like fruit with yogurt or milk can make the digestion sluggish and the babies dont eat well due to no appetite.
If you stop this I am sure she will increase the quantity. Here is a brief amount of qunatities she should be eating at this age. i.e 1 year.
Milk – at least 120 ml – Max – 240 ml
idli 3 medium sized with rasam or 2 with sambar
Ragi malt or oats porridge about 250 ml bowl
Khichdi – 1 and a half tbsps of rice with equal amount of dal and 1 small carrot obout half cup chopped.
Dinner- rice with rasam + mashed veggies – soupy consisteny about 250 ml bowl
Your goal should be to reach this quanity by next 3 to 4 months. Don’t panic if she is not eating that much. But try slowly. Give more fruits. Allow her to play well this helps to increase her appetite. Hope this helps.
Thanks a lot Swasthi… I am so happy for your suggestions… I will definitely follow ur suggestions… So nice of you Swasthi…
Hiii Swasthi how R u? I have a doubt Swasthi regarding rice cereal… Thought to post the query there but I think that you will remember me if I continue this… Sorry if I am troubling you..
Can I use rice, toor dal, moong dal, urad dal, badam n kaaju to make the cereal… Please help me.. thanks in advance
Hi sravya
No problem. I identify readers by their email id since many readers have same names.
🙂
Yes you can use all those which you mentioned above but urad dal makes the babies very gassy. So it is good to soak and make khichdi or use for dosa or idli. Make idli and dosa only with 1:2 proportions dal:rice.
Probably when she turns 15 months, then you can give her urad dal ladoo / sunnundalu. Hope this helps.
This is an excellent way to increase the weight of my baby and the food chart is very useful for mothers
Thanks Sangeetha
Happy to know it is useful
