Almond carrot smoothie recipe – I love to include almonds in our diet in many ways. They are so versatile, protein packed and are an amazing super food. Iam specially prefer using them soaked as they are more easy to digest and absorb better.
While a child i never got to enjoy ice creams, carbonated beverages or any store bought drinks during summer. My mum most times would make dry dates juice, barley water, slightly chilled almond milk,sabja seeds drink, or smoothies which tend to beat the summer heat naturally.
I have fond memories of this slightly chilled almond carrot smoothie which would accompany my mid morning snack during the summer holidays. Since soaked almonds are said to be cooling to the body, they naturally help to beat the summer heat,
To prevent using sugar in this smoothie, we add a few sweet tasting grapes. if you dont mind you can just replace it with sugar. Red grapes have been added to the smoothie you see in the picture above.The color of your smoothie could be different if you use a different variety if grapes.
You can use milk to this smoothie if you are not using grapes.
Ingredients (1 cup = 240ml )
- 8 to 10 almonds soaked and blanched
- 1/2 cup carrots chopped, steamed or raw
- 1/2 cup grapes sweet , or 1/2 cup milk, use as needed
- sugar or dates as needed
How to make the recipe
- If you like to steam the carrots, steam until soft.
- Add all the ingredients to a blender jar till smooth.
- Serve immediately
